ما هو نظام التدرج في الاتحاد الدولي؟

The International الجيو جيتسو البرازيلي Federation (Iالجيو جيتسوF) publishes an official document called the Graduation System that defines every belt, every stripe, every minimum time requirement, and every age restriction in الجيو جيتسو البرازيلي. It is the closest thing الجيو جيتسو has to a universal rulebook for rank.

The current version - v3.2, updated December 2025 - is available for free on the Iالجيو جيتسوF official website. If you're serious about understanding how promotion works in الجيو جيتسو, this document is essential reading.

Not every academy follows Iالجيو جيتسوF rules exactly. Some affiliations have their own graduation criteria. But the Iالجيو جيتسوF system is the most widely recognized framework in the world, and it's the standard thفي Gracie Laval follows for both kids and adult promotions.

This article breaks down the entire system - kids belts, adult belts, minimum time requirements, the degree system, age divisions, and the rules for transitioning from kids to adult ranks. Whether you're a parent wondering what belt your child is working toward or an adult curious about how long the journey to الحزام الأسود really takes, this guide covers it all.

كم عدد الأحزمة في جيو جيتسو الأطفال؟

The kids belt system is more detailed than most people realize. There are 13 belts in total for children, organized into a logical progression that spans from age 4 through age 15.

The system starts with the الحزام الأبيض, which is the same for everyone. After white, there are four color groups - Gray, Yellow, Orange, and Green - and each color group contains three belt variants. That gives us:

  1. White Belt - Starting belt for all children
  2. Gray-White Belt (white belt with gray stripe) - Ages 4+
  3. Solid Gray Belt - Ages 4+
  4. Gray-Black Belt (gray belt with black stripe) - Ages 4+
  5. Yellow-White Belt (white belt with yellow stripe) - Ages 7+
  6. Solid Yellow Belt - Ages 7+
  7. Yellow-Black Belt (yellow belt with black stripe) - Ages 7+
  8. Orange-White Belt (white belt with orange stripe) - Ages 10+
  9. Solid Orange Belt - Ages 10+
  10. Orange-Black Belt (orange belt with black stripe) - Ages 10+
  11. Green-White Belt (white belt with green stripe) - Ages 13+
  12. Solid Green Belt - Ages 13+
  13. Green-Black Belt (green belt with black stripe) - Ages 13+

This 13-belt system means kids have frequent milestones to work toward. Unlike adults, who might wait 2 years between belts, children can see tangible progress every few months. That regular recognition is important for keeping young athletes motivated through the long journey of learning الجيو جيتسو.

ما هي المتغيرات الثلاثة لأحزمة الأطفال؟

Each kids color group (Gray, Yellow, Orange, Green) follows the same three-variant structure, as defined in Iالجيو جيتسوF Article 1.3.1:

  1. White-Stripe Variant - The first belt in the color group. The belt is primarily white with a colored stripe or bar. This signals that the child has begun working at that color level.
  1. Solid Variant - The middle belt. A full solid-color belt indicating the child has demonstrated competence at the core techniques for that level.
  1. Black-Stripe Variant - The final belt in the color group. A colored belt with a black stripe or bar, signaling the child is approaching mastery of that level and nearing promotion to the next color group.

This three-step progression within each color gives coaches a granular tool for recognizing progress. Instead of a single promotion every year or two, kids can receive belt changes that mark meaningful stages of development within a broader skill level.

Think of it like chapters in a book. The color group is the book, and the three variants are chapters within it. Completing all three chapters means you're ready for the next book.

At Gracie Laval, المدرب Louis-Philippe uses this system exactly as the Iالجيو جيتسوF intended - each variant represents genuine technical growth, not just attendance or time served.

ما نظام الخطوط الذي يقترحه الاتحاد الدولي للأطفال؟

Between belt promotions, the Iالجيو جيتسوF also suggests stripe systems to provide even more frequent recognition. Annex I of the Graduation System document outlines three recommended approaches:

Quarterly System (4 stripes per year)

  • Stripes awarded roughly every 3 months
  • Works well for academies with structured curriculum cycles
  • Each stripe represents one quarter of progress toward the next belt variant

Triannual System (3 stripes per year)

  • Stripes awarded every 4 months
  • Slightly longer intervals between recognition
  • Often used when curriculum is divided into three training blocks

Monthly System (Up to 12 stripes per year)

  • More frequent but smaller recognitions
  • Can use colored الاستسلامe or different stripe materials to differentiate
  • Popular with younger kids (Mighty-Mite age) who benefit from very frequent feedback

The stripe system is a recommendation, not a requirement. Each academy chooses the approach that works best for their students. At Gracie Laval, stripes are awarded based on demonstrated skill, consistent attendance, and attitude - not on a fixed calendar. When المدرب Louis-Philippe puts a stripe on a belt, it means the student has earned it.

ماذا يحدث عندما يبلغ الأطفال ١٦ سنة؟

This is one of the most common questions parents ask, and the Iالجيو جيتسوF has clear rules for it. When a child reaches age 16, they transition from the kids belt system to the adult belt system. Here's exactly how that works:

White Belt stays White Belt. If your child is still on a white belt at 16, nothing changes - they continue as a white belt in the adult system.

Gray, Yellow, or Orange Belt converts to Blue Belt. Any child holding a Gray, Yellow, or Orange belt (including all three variants of each) is eligible for promotion to adult Blue Belt at age 16. This makes sense because these kids have years of training that puts them well beyond adult white belt level.

Green Belt converts to Blue Belt or Purple Belt. A child holding a Green belt at age 16 can be promoted to either Blue or Purple belt at the professor's discretion. A Green-Black belt holder with 5+ years of training may have the skills of an adult purple belt, and the IBJJF allows the instructor to make that call.

The professor decides. The transition isn't automatic. The child's instructor evaluates their readiness and determines the appropriate adult belt. A 16-year-old Orange belt who has been training casually might receive a Blue belt, while a 16-year-old Green-Black belt who competes regularly might jump straight to Purple.

This transition system ensures that kids who have invested years in training don't start over as adult الحزام الأبيضs. Their accumulated knowledge and mat time are recognized and honored through appropriate placement in the adult system.

ما هي متطلبات أحزمة الكبار؟

The adult belt system has five ranks with specific minimum time requirements set by the Iالجيو جيتسوF:

White Belt

  • Starting belt for all adults (ages 16+)
  • No minimum time requirement
  • Students typically spend 1-2 years at الحزام الأبيض before promotion to blue

Blue Belt

  • Minimum age: 16
  • Minimum time at الحزام الأزرق before promotion: 2 years
  • This is where the Iالجيو جيتسوF minimum times begin. A professor cannot promote a الحزام الأزرق to الحزام البنفسجي until at least 2 years have passed.
  • 4 stripes possible (each represents approximately 6 months of progress)

Purple Belt

  • Minimum age: 16
  • Minimum time at الحزام البنفسجي before promotion: 1.5 years (18 months)
  • الحزام البنفسجيs begin to develop their own teaching capabilities
  • 4 stripes possible

Brown Belt

  • Minimum age: 18
  • Minimum time at الحزام البني before promotion: 1 year (12 months)
  • The shortest mandatory hold of the colored belts
  • الحزام البنيs are considered advanced practitioners capable of high-level instruction
  • 4 stripes possible

Black Belt

  • Minimum age: 19
  • This is a fixed minimum. Even a prodigy who started at age 4 and blew through every belt cannot receive a الحزام الأسود before turning 19.
  • The Iالجيو جيتسوF requires that the promoting professor hold a 3rd degree الحزام الأسود or higher (with some exceptions)
  • الحزام الأسود degrees are tracked separately (covered in the next section)

Exceptions for World Champions and Elite Competitors:

The Iالجيو جيتسوF allows reduced minimum times for athletes who win World Championships or other major titles. A World Champion at الحزام الأزرق, for example, could be promoted to الحزام البنفسجي before the standard 2-year minimum. These exceptions are rare and apply only to the highest levels of competitive achievement.

Exceptions for Previous Kids Belt Holders:

Children who held advanced kids belts (Yellow-Black, Orange, or Green variants) may have their time in the kids system counted toward adult minimum time requirements, at the professor's discretion. This prevents a talented 16-year-old with 8 years of training from being held at الحزام الأزرق for a full 2 years when they're clearly ready to advance.

ما هو نظام درجات الحزام الأسود؟

The الحزام الأسود isn't the end of the journey - it's the beginning of a new one. The Iالجيو جيتسوF recognizes a detailed degree system that spans from 1st degree الحزام الأسود all the way to 10th degree red belt:

1st through 3rd Degree Black Belt

  • Minimum time between each degree: 3 years
  • Belt appearance: الحزام الأسود with white bar, degree stripes added to the bar
  • These are the working degrees - most الحزام الأسود instructors worldwide hold 1st through 3rd degree

4th through 6th Degree Black Belt

  • Minimum time between each degree: 5 years
  • Belt appearance: Same الحزام الأسود, additional degree stripes
  • These degrees represent decades of dedication and significant contributions to the art

7th Degree - Coral Belt (Red and Black)

  • Minimum time at 6th degree before promotion: 7 years
  • Minimum age: 50
  • Belt appearance: Alternating red and black panels
  • This is where the belt physically changes color, recognizing a lifetime of service to الجيو جيتسو

8th Degree - Coral Belt (Red and White)

  • Minimum time at 7th degree before promotion: 7 years
  • Minimum age: 57
  • Belt appearance: Alternating red and white panels
  • Extremely rare - only a handful of living practitioners hold this rank

9th Degree - Red Belt (Grand Master)

  • Minimum age: 67
  • Reserved for practitioners who have made extraordinary contributions to الجيو جيتسو البرازيلي over a lifetime
  • Currently held by only a small number of the art's most senior figures

10th Degree - Red Belt

  • Reserved exclusively for the pioneers of الجيو جيتسو البرازيلي
  • Only five people have ever held this rank: Carlos Gracie, Gastao Gracie, Oswaldo Gracie, George Gracie, and Helio Gracie
  • The Iالجيو جيتسوF considers this rank closed - it will not be awarded again

The degree system puts the journey into perspective. When you see a الحزام الأسود, you're looking at someone who has dedicated at minimum 8-10 years of consistent training. When you see a coral belt, you're looking at 30-40+ years. The system demands patience and persistence at every level.

ما هي التقسيمات العمرية في الاتحاد الدولي؟

The Iالجيو جيتسوF uses age divisions for both kids and adult competition. Understanding these divisions helps you know where you or your child fits in the competitive landscape.

Kids Divisions:

  • Mighty-Mite 1: Age 4
  • Mighty-Mite 2: Age 5
  • Mighty-Mite 3: Age 6
  • Pee-Wee 1: Age 7
  • Pee-Wee 2: Age 8
  • Pee-Wee 3: Age 9
  • Junior 1: Age 10
  • Junior 2: Age 11
  • Junior 3: Age 12
  • Teen 1: Age 13
  • Teen 2: Age 14
  • Teen 3: Age 15

Adult Divisions:

  • Juvenile 1: Age 16
  • Juvenile 2: Ages 16-17
  • Adult: Ages 18-29
  • Master 1: Ages 30-35
  • Master 2: Ages 36-40
  • Master 3: Ages 41-45
  • Master 4: Ages 46-50
  • Master 5: Ages 51-55
  • Master 6: Ages 56-60
  • Master 7: Ages 61+

Why this matters beyond competition: Even if you never compete, understanding the age divisions helps you appreciate why BJJ is often called a "lifetime art." The system is built to accommodate everyone from a 4-year-old in their first class to a 65-year-old Master 7 competitor. There is no age at which you've "missed your window" for BJJ.

كيف يعترف الاتحاد الدولي بالترقيات؟

The Iالجيو جيتسوF has specific rules about who can promote whom and how promotions are officially recognized. These are covered in Articles 5, 6, and 7 of the Graduation System document.

Professor Requirements (Article 5-6):

  • To promote students up to الحزام البني, the instructor must hold a الحزام الأسود (any degree)
  • To promote students to الحزام الأسود, the instructor must hold a 3rd degree الحزام الأسود or higher
  • The promoting professor must be an Iالجيو جيتسوF-registered الحزام الأسود with an active membership
  • The professor must personally know and have trained with the student being promoted

IBJJF Membership and Registration:

  • Students who want their rank officially recognized by the Iالجيو جيتسوF must have an active Iالجيو جيتسوF membership
  • The promoting professor registers the promotion through the Iالجيو جيتسوF system
  • This creates an official record of the student's belt history, including dates and promoting professor

Provisional Graduation (Article 7):

  • In special circumstances, a student may receive a provisional promotion from a professor who doesn't meet the standard requirements (for example, a 1st degree الحزام الأسود promoting someone to الحزام الأسود in a region with no 3rd degree or higher professors)
  • Provisional promotions require Iالجيو جيتسوF approval and may need to be confirmed by a qualifying professor within a specified timeframe
  • This rule exists to accommodate the global spread of الجيو جيتسو into regions where high-ranking professors aren't yet available

What this means for you at Gracie Laval:

المدرب Louis-Philippe follows Iالجيو جيتسوF graduation standards. When you receive a promotion at Gracie Laval, it reflects genuine technical achievement measured against the same criteria used at academies worldwide. Your belt isn't just a local rank - it's a globally recognized credential.
